FAQ's

Do the fish help certain skin ailments?

Yes they have assisted with the successful treatment of eczema and psoriasis and many other skin diseases and ailments for hundreds of years.

Do you recycle the water?

Yes. We recycle our fish nutrient rich water into gardens as often as we can!

What happens to the fish when they retire?

The fish are re-homed. Some move onto hydroponic farms, others go to pet shops and become family fin babies to their forever homes. No fish are released into the wild, rivers or dams.

Is the water cold?

No, we try and replicate the fish’s natural habitat as best as possible and for this the water has to be nice and warm.

What about hygiene?

Everyones feet are cleaned and sterilised before putting them in our tanks. The water is continuously cycled through a powerful filtration system including ultraviolet and ozone sterilisation and clients are required to cover any open wounds or sores during use of the fish spa. A series of questions will be asked of every person before their spa to ensure our other guests and our fish are kept healthy.

Should any health concerns arise during the questionnaire clients may be requested to return at a later date when their conditions have cleared.

How often should I have a fish spa? Should it be part of a regular regime?

Yes, we believe that you should book a spa weekly for 4 – 6 weeks initially and then a repeat every 6 to 8 weeks to keep your feet in tip top condition.

What is the ideal treatment time?

We advise a 20 minute fish spa session. Clients clearly notice the effects after 15 minutes but obviously the longer you stay the more dead skin the fish can remove and the smoother and the more relaxed your feet will feel.

Does it tickle?

For some people the first few minutes can be a little ticklish but you will soon get used to it.

Can you sum up the benefits?

Softer, smoother, healthier, refreshed feet and a smile on your face!

Like very fine vibrations all over your feet, similar to a micro-massage. Clients find that after the first minute or so it’s very relaxing. Afterwards, as well as your feet feeling softer they will feel lighter and refreshed.

Is it healthy for the fish to feed throughout the day?

Yes, this species of fish thrive in these conditions. With the amount of fish in each foot spa, not all fish will feed at the same time which allows the fish to rest when they want to. The fish have a high metabolism and are very active little creatures.

Not at all, the fish have no teeth so the experience is completely pain free.
